The seventh CALLEJON album 'Fandigo' is unlike anything the band has done so far and shows the Düsseldorfers at the peak of their creative development. Two years ago CALLEJON released their last album to date, 'Wir sind Angst'.

Back then it was about sheer anger,' says singer BastiBasti. 'We asked ourselves what fear does to society. As we see today: it is falling apart. That made us so angry at the time that we completely escalated this feeling: We are shit, you are shit, everything is shit.' There is no question that fear is the central driving force behind the significant developments of the past few years. Without fear, no shift to the right, no Brexit, no Trump. But taking the criticism of these conditions to such a blatant extreme as CALLEJON did back then - that only works once. 'Against this background, we cannot and do not want to write party music,' says BastiBasti. Added to this is the fact that a musical path - no matter how original it is - only lasts for a few years. After that, you run the risk of repeating yourself. CALLEJON understood that. "We were a bit bored with ourselves," says BastiBasti. 'So we asked ourselves questions: Who are we, do we want to continue to be the hard metalcore band, do we even have anything left to say?' No misunderstandings: CALLEJON have by no means calmed down on 'Fandigo'.

But they use their anger more purposefully and also work with atmospheric surfaces, loud-quiet dynamics, stirring melodies, new musical elements and use growling, screaming and shouting in a more measured and effective way than ever before. The result is a bold, gripping and groundbreaking album.
