R#94 with Philipp Jacob-Pahl, managing director & co-founder of Budde Talent Agency

Philipp Jacob Pahl

He learned the booking trade from the ground up at ass concerts & promotion in Hamburg and helped set up the Selective Artists division there in 2013 to better present younger artists.

During this time, Philipp Jacob-Pahl met his future colleague Carlo Luis Ruben Schenk and founded the Cologne office of Landstreicher Booking with him in 2015; the company of Felix Hansen and Beat Gottwald. During this time he accompanied successful acts such as Woodkid and Milky Chance and experienced the rise of the band AnnenMayKantereit first hand, while Schenk managed them early on.

In the Redfield Podcast, Philipp Jacob-Pahl reports on his stations and why he founded the Budde Talent Agency (BTA) together with Budde Music in 2018.

It becomes clear that the development as a concert agency and tour organizer into a 360-degree agency is part of long-term planning and the establishment of the brand partnerships and acting departments is not necessarily due to the pandemic development.

In an interview with Alexander Schröder, Pahl explains BTA's goals and expansion stages and points to the connections to Budde Music, a German music publisher founded in 1947 and a third-generation family business.

They talk about whether this model can also work for smaller companies, what added value such 360-degree agencies can offer and why Pahl continues to see himself as an enthusiastic music nerd whose roster works completely regardless of genre.
