Avocado Booking from Munich have been firmly rooted in the global metal, hardcore and punk scene for 25 years. Ivonne Davies-Kreye and Marco Walzel founded the agency in Munich and, together with their bands, grew into an international player.
In the Redfield Podcast, Marco Walzel talks about his beginnings in the scene and how his current network developed back then: as a musician, fanzine and label maker - with a lot of idealism and little plan, as he admits in a conversation with Alexander Schröder. The income from booking was repeatedly sunk into the label until Join The Team Player Records was discontinued and the focus was on Avocado Booking.
Walzel books metal greats such as Parkway Drive, Darkest Hour and Northlane, among others, and organizes the Never Say Die! Trip. In an interview with Alexander Schröder, the trained graphic designer explains why these bands stayed with the agency from the start and what challenges booking presents for them.
Marco Walzel also reports on solidarity in the industry, explains why he has so far rejected all takeover offers, when he offers to work with a band and how his company can survive the pandemic.
