The paths of the band from Munich and the label based in Melle, Lower Saxony, have crossed again and again in the past. Redfield company boss Alexander Schröder remembers the beginnings and the first joint project: “We have been following the path of MARATHONMANN from the beginning , we met personally with our band LIVING WITH LIONS on one of their first European tours in 2012. The band's tireless commitment is impressive and things are constantly moving forward. In 2016 we successfully realized a joint 7-inch benefit for Pro Asyl with RADIO HAVANNA and now I'm really looking forward to working together on the new album."
For MARATHONMANN, too, the new label home represents something special and the departure into an exciting future, as frontman Michi Lettner confirms: “We are super happy to have found a great label in Redfield Records, which already released a few of our favorite records back then . After our little break, it's an amazing feeling to have found someone with Alex and Redfield who understands the band and believes in what we do and what MARATHONMANN stands for. Alex is a long time friend and we are so excited and energized for what is to come. We’re feeling really good right now and we’re more excited than ever.”
After “Holz Schwert” (2012), “...and we forget what lies ahead of us” (2014) and “My Life Belongs to You” (2016), MARATHONMANN 's fourth album is on the schedule this year. From the beginning, the southern German quartet was a band that touched the hearts of their listeners through their lyrics. The stories their songs tell are just as close and authentic as their music. The songs are about doubt and self-sacrifice, about the hopeless fight against the forces of madness and the return to a long-lost, carefree life, which focuses on one's own wishes and dreams instead of bowing to the constant pressure of external dictates.
In 2019, MARATHONMANN will not deviate from this line and will remain unmistakably themselves. Nevertheless, everything will be different again, because the reinvention and constant expansion of the sound are also part of the character of the band, which becomes hungrier, more curious and at the same time more carefree with every year of their career.
Redfield Records completes the team around MARATHONMANN , which includes Kingstar Music (booking) and F&M Feral Media (management). Before the band presents their fourth work to the world, you can see them on tour with ROGERS and ENGST in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in April.
