It was important this time not to move away from the “Hamburg” cosmos. However, it was also important to create something that wasn't nipped in the bud by Hamburg music clichés. At Hennig's express request, it was recorded live and analogue in order to avoid the temptation to overproduce. This is how a record without a net or false bottom was created in his studio “le Châtelet” in Hamburg-Altona, between sofas and guitar amps and in the bathroom and kitchen. Not perfect. Many errors. Lots of feelings. What type, however, is still unclear.
While the first work “Jugend Violencia” (produced by Marc Schettler, Sportfreunde Stiller, etc.) had a “wall of sound”, countless tracks and bombast from all corners, the new work is simply adorned with nothing at all, except simply Lots of small, loving details, refinements and songs, each of which stands as a small work of art in itself. No perfectly cut takes, no guitar walls and still fat from every pore. Punk rock? Who cares? Apparently not the band. No good hairstyles, no indie discos, little youth consensus.
There are pianos, synths, electronic junk, percussion and lots of out of tune moments. Distorted, overdriven, sought after, overpriced. The album never looks for the perfect hook, neither for the disco nor for the street. It cares little about its fans. No “It’s nice that you’re here” or “How are you?”, just moments. moments.
