R#82 with Hendrik Wippermann, founder of Eat Music

Hendrik Wippermann

“We came around the corner with leather pants, long hair and the right rock poses,” remembers Hendrik Wippermann of the time almost 20 years ago and adds with a laugh: “And everyone looked funny.”

The Münster musician and his band Eat The Gun are deeply rooted in hard rock and rock'n'roll. In order to better manage his band's fortunes, he founded the Eat Music agency in 2007.

In Europe he now books The Boss Hoss (outside Germany), the former KISS guitarist Ace Frehley, and is active worldwide as the manager of Kyle Gass from Tenacious D.

In an interview with Alexander Schröder, Hendrik Wippermann explains what it means to be a musician on the other side of the music industry. He makes it clear how important your own network is for future success and how new artists can find their way to it.

Wippermann also explains what importance his work as a “Talent Agency” has for him and why he is active across Europe. An approach that, according to him, only applies to a few German music agencies. In the Redfield Podcast he also discusses his perspective on management tasks and explains why he would always prefer a label to a label service.
