R#107 with Marit Posch, General Manager Germany IDOL

Marit Posch

The qualified lawyer Marit Posch has been intensively involved in music since her childhood and even acquired an opera/singing diploma. Despite successfully completing her law studies, it was clear to her that she wanted to work in the music industry.

As Head of PR at Ellen Allien's Berlin label BPitch Control, she accompanied, among other things, Paul Kalkbrenner's breakthrough at a time when Hannes Stöhr attracted attention with his feature film "Berlin Calling".

In 2009 she founded the Monkeytown Records label together with Modeselektor. A few years later, she bundled her numerous activities together with Sandra Passaro in the Hyper Culture agency and in 2020 became General Manager Germany for the digital sales company IDOL.

In the Redfield Podcast, Marit Posch talks about her strong motivation to work in the music industry, but also why she had to break away from it. She sheds light on the structures of record companies that also have management and booking in-house and talks to host Alexander Schröder about the future of digital music distribution, playlists and mood tracks.

Both also take a look at her project Parenthood in Music, which she developed together with Steffi von Kannemann (Better Things) and with which she wants to strengthen parents in the music industry and do lobbying work.
